Robert Buss Obituary

Buss, Robert W.

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound… Our Lord and Savior peacefully called Robert W. Buss, of Little Chute, home while asleep on Sunday, January 11, 2015 after a lengthy battle with congestive heart failure due to exposure to Agent Orange while serving his country in Vietnam. He was born to William and Marion Buss on December 25, 1949 in Neenah, Wisconsin.

Bob attended Neenah High School and entered the Army in 1967. He proudly served his country in Vietnam in 1968 and 1969. He was honorably discharged in 1970. On March 16, 1996 Bob married Michelle Romportl at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Neenah. To this marriage, Bob brought his son, Joshua Buss of Neenah, and Michelle brought her daughters: Tamara (Steve) Stickney, of Neenah, Tiffany (David) St. Louis, of Combined Locks, and Trisha (John) Prast, of Menasha. He retired in 2002 after 19 years from Rock Tenn (Smurfit Stone).

In Bob's early years he loved time spent at W.I.R. working with various pit crews. Throughout his life he owned several classic muscle cars, Mustangs were his favorite. He also enjoyed NASCAR, the Packers, and playing cards. In later years as his health declined he found great pleasure in mowing his neighbors' lawn on his mean green machine. Always wanting to be busy, and unable to mow lawns, this past summer you would find Bob working on wood crafts for his good friends, Keith and Amy Krueger.

Bob is survived by his wife, Michelle, his children and his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy: Alexis Prast, Madilynn and Lilly St. Louis, Derek Stickney, and Rachel Price. He is further survived by Michelle's family, Jim and Gloria Stehley, Pam and Walt Pappas, Kim and Russ Harwood, and Shirlean Stehley. His siblings: Carol, Bill, Joan, and Susan. Bob was blessed with many nieces and nephews; special to his heart, Debra Jung. He was welcomed into Heaven by his parents, an infant son, mother and father-in-law, brother-in-law, Jon, and his faithful companion, Molly.

A Memorial Service for Bob will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 601 S. Washington St., Combined Locks with the Rev. Tim Krick officiating. Friends will be received at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service. A memorial fund is being established.

Michelle & family,
So sorry to hear of Bob's passing. Had not seen him for quite some time but will always remember him when we lived in Menasha. After we moved to Colorado he came out a couple of times with the "guys", usually to take a car or two back to Wisconsin. He was always a kick to be around and a gentle soul. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you at this difficult time.

You were an amazing man! So glad Mom met you and we were able to spend the last 20 years as a family. You always listened. Gave good advice. Treated us girls , our husbands and children as your own. Many great memories you left us with. Proud to call you my Dad! I LOVE YOU AND WILL MISS YOU SO MUCH! Until we meet again in Heaven, I will be thinking of you always. Love, your Daughter!

Michelle and Josh,
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Our lives would move apart then together and we lost touch. I have lots of fun memories of Bob. I had no idea you lived in Little Chute. I stopped by your old home last summer looking for you. Bob will always have a special place in my heart. Love his picture. I know his faith in the "good lord" has served him well so he is in a better place now.

Bobby Buss----my first little friend who lived next door to me in Neenah. I was 3 years old and you were 5. I thought of you, Bobby, many, many times over the years as I looked back over the old pictures. RIP.
