Stephen Hofacker Obituary

Stephen A. Hofacker

Hortonville - Stephen (Steve) Arthur Hofacker, age 69, of Hortonville lost his battle with cancer Thursday, April 26, 2018 from the comfort of his beloved home and bed surrounded by loved ones. He raised 4 children in the same farmhouse that his grandfather built in 1908 that has since been home to 5 generations of Hofackers. Cancer took him from this world far too soon, but what will always remain are his lessons: work hard, keep your word, live modestly, and perhaps what he was most known for, "tell it like it is". Steve enjoyed his early retirement, hunting, fishing, spending time at his pond, planting trees, good deals, mowing lawn, motorcycle rides, and live music and tacos at the Kountry Bar. He lived and died in his own way which was the most loveable trait about him. Even in his final hours he managed to make a pass at his hospice nurse; he never lost his appreciation for beautiful women.

Steve is survived by his children: Ryan McGwyer, Heather Hofacker, Amanda (Coty Sorby) Hofacker, and Heath Hofacker, his 2 grandchildren: Kahlila Barnes and Kirin Guyette, and his golden retriever, Sammy.

He is further survived by his siblings: Earl (Barb) Hofacker, Robert (Marlene) Hofacker, and Jean Romenesko along with his nieces and nephews Joy Hofacker, Luke Hofacker, Leslie Romensko-Chandeze, Samuel Van Dinter, Brittany Van Dinter, and Nick Van Dinter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Sylvia Hofacker, his brother William Hofacker, and his nephew, Travis Romensko.

A prayer service for Steve will be held at Borchardt & Moder Funeral & Cremation Service of Hortonville on Friday, May 4th, at 6:00pm. A gathering of family and friends to celebrate his life will be held from 3-6pm at the funeral home prior to the service. Steve's ashes will be buried at his pond which was the most important place to him.

Steve's family would like to give special thanks to Unity Hospice and their team of nurses for all of the comfort they provided to him in his final days, and for his care-taker/son-in-law, Coty Sorby.
