William Heyden Obituary

Vander Heyden, William "Bill"

William "Bill" J. Vander Heyden, Appleton, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 after a brief illness. He was born on February 13, 1946 to the late Herman and Dina (Verstegen) Vander Heyden.

Bill was born in the Netherlands and immigrated to the United States with his family in 1947. He graduated from Bonduel High School and spent a lot of time in Seymour in his younger days. Bill was drafted into the Army and served in the Vietnam War. When he returned, he worked at Country Aire for a few years and the balance of his working years at Miller Electric.

He had a passion for cars, Harley Davidson motorcycles, and sailing. Bill was a "car guy" his entire life. During retirement he sailed during the week and went to car shows with his friends on the weekends. Bill was an independent, fun-loving guy.

Bill is survived by his sister, Erma (Larry) Luisier; two nieces: Linda (Jerry) Burich and Jodi (Mark) Neerdaels; one nephew, Tony Guyette; grand nieces and nephews: Eric Burich, Kristen Burich, and Nevan Neerdaels.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Dina Vander Heyden, and one brother, John Vander Heyden.

Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 from 4 pm to 8 pm. Visitation will continue at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Navarino on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 from 9:30 am until the funeral mass at 11 am with Fr. Theodore Hendricks and Deacon Don Coenen officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at www.muehlboettcher.com

Whenever I hear the song 'Dreamboat Annie by Heart' reminds me of Country, his favorite album(vinyl only).
One of the stages of grief is anger, and the anger I have is because we couldn't say goodbye before he left. A very fine person and he will be sadly missed by our family.

Even though we haven't crossed paths the last few years, one fond memory from our youth free spirited days growing up and hanging around together in the Seymour area. Being 17 and 18 years old without a care in the world, outside of the draft and the Vietnam War, Bill and I traded our vehicle's with each other. My 57 Chevy Bell Air, 2 door hard top.nosed and decked, full tubular grill,3 speed on the floor for his 56 Corvette. No money involved, just pink slips. Both vehicles...Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda !! Bill was one of the good guys. God speed and God bless! !
