William Weyenberg Obituary

William "Bill" Weyenberg

Ashwaubenon - Bill Weyenberg, 73, a wonderful loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2021. He was born in Appleton, WI on February 22, 1947 to the late Robert (Pat) and Virginia (Ginny) Weyenberg. He graduated from Xavier High School in 1965. In 1966 Bill enlisted in the Air Force. After being stationed in Mississippi and Texas he served in Vietnam for 12 months until his honorable discharge in 1969. On November 15, 1969, he married his high school sweetheart, Cheryl (Sheri) Horn. Bill was an air traffic controller while in the military and continued at O'Hare Airport and then ultimately relocated to Green Bay's Austin Straubel Airport. Bill also started his own business as a photographic retoucher for many years and then ended his career as a real estate agent.

Bill was a nature lover, enjoying many trips to Crivitz and Door County. He loved to sail with his high school buddies and spend time on the water. Bill was an avid reader and loved to cook for his family. His greatest joy was spending time with his beloved grandkids and family dogs. Bill was a "one of a kind man" who always had a story to tell.

In addition to his wife Sheri, Bill is survived by his son Todd (Deanna) Weyenberg and their daughters Kelsey and Grace, and daughter Jennifer (Marcus) Smith and their sons Connor and Caden. He is further survived by his sister Ellen (Gary) Hartzheim, sister in law, Denise Weyenberg, sister in law Julie McMillan, and nephew and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Mike Weyenberg, and Sheri's parents, Norbert (Bud) and Florence Horn.

A private service for Bill will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home on Sunday, January 31, 2021. To leave an online condolence please visit www.newcomergreenbay.com.

Yup: we miss you Billy-boy. Found memories: Pig roasts, ski trips, camaraderie. Still: Was our lose but God's gain.
Amen.

Just sorry Bill didn't make it to one of our XHS65 Breakfasts before moving on to the other side of the veil. May he R.I.P. Oh: And 'thanks for the memories'.

We, Sharon and Dennis, two of Bill's classmates from XHS 65, were sorry to have Bill leave us so soon. I would not have said this 55 years ago, when 73 seemed like the end of the world, but it now strikes close to home. Bill was just one of those guys who's company was a good thing. Very sorry for loss of Bill's family, especially given his wife is also a classmate. I'm pretty sure we'll continue to pray for the repose of his soul, at least until memory serves us otherwise. Thought to see him at least one more time. Wasn't to be. It'll have to wait until the other side of the veil.

Sheri, I’m so glad I got to spend some time with you and Bill recently with a small XHS group sharing a Friday night fish fry. I sat next to Bill that evening and found him so warm and engaging. You made a great couple and I am happy for your decades long love affair. May his memory keep you at peace and comforted. God bless.
