Alexander Steffa Obituary
Alexander Felip Steffa, 19, of Blackfoot, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2009, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident.
Alex was born April 29, 1990, to Jennifer Jo Holt and Matthew Jason Steffa in Orlando, Fla. Alex was the oldest of two brothers and one sister.
Alex moved to various cities on both East and West coasts, as his father served in the Navy. The family moved to Denver, Colo., in 1999, then moved to Blackfoot in June 2005. Alex graduated from Blackfoot High School in 2009, playing on the high school soccer team. In his free time, Alex enjoyed skateboarding, video games, drawing, hanging out with friends and listening to music. He loved spending time with his family.
Alex is survived by his parents, Matthew and Jennifer; brothers, Kyle and Josh; sister, Samantha; grandparents, John (Nancy) Steffa of Mars Hill, N.C., James (Linda) Holt of Cocoa, Fla., and Judith Holt of Blackfoot; and a great-grandfather, Robert Steffa of Waterloo, Iowa. Alex was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Alice Allison.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, June 19, at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave. in Blackfoot.
The family will meet with friends and relatives from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and for one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

To Alex's family. I am so sorry. I know that you couldn't possibly remember me but me and alex were the best of friends at Bertha Hide and York middle school. I loved him like he was my brother. Ever since you moved away i have been trying to find you again. I just wish we could have talked one last time.

A cutie he was,
when I first seen him,
his blue eyes and hair.
But how we met was by laughter.
Sitting by him in speech class,
we'd giggle and point, making faces..
Always getting in trouble,
or trying to stay out of it.
He was a great friend,
Kind and very sweet.
I'd hug him when its a good day.
I still hugged him when I was upset,
he'd always make me smile.
But finding out what happened.
It was like losing a brother.
My oldest brother, I cried.
But I held some back, and cried for those who couldn't cry.
I miss you Alex, you were an awesome brother like friend.

I sure didn't see our family being in this situation again so soon. Jennifer I was so shocked and sick when I got your call. There is nothing I can say that will heal your heart. Losing a child is a parents worse nightmare and I am so sad that you and Matt are living this fear. Contary to what people say, time does not heal the pain, nothing does. I can not fathom what you must be going through. If you need me for anything, I am here for you. With all my heart, I am so very sorry about the death of a man so young and with so much to offer. Dear Steffa Family,
We are very sorry about your loss. We know how hard this must be and we truly are sorry. We were the second car to arrive at the accident. We got there before the ambulances and stayed until everyone left. Please know that Alex was never alone. Everyone helped in every way they could. So many cars stopped and offered to help, so many people got out to help, and so many tears were shed. Though we didn't know Alex personally we thought that you would like to know he spent the last of his minutes with people who cared. Your family has been in our prayers and in our thought.
