Daniel D. Furstenau, 63, of Lewiston, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017, in a motorcycle accident near Lovell, Wyo., east of Yellowstone National Park.
Dan was born Jan. 13, 1954, in Neligh, Neb., the son of Junior and Gladys Furstenau. He grew up in Norfolk, Neb., and graduated from high school there.
He worked as a pressman at the Norfolk Daily News for several years before moving to Idaho Falls, where he became press foreman at the Idaho Falls Post Register. He later went to work for the Alberta Newsprint Co. as a traveling man, making calls on newspapers and print shops around the Northwest and as far east as Nebraska and as far north as Yellow Knife, Northwest Territories. He was very happy working for Alberta Newsprint and loved his job and his fellow co-workers.
Dan's job didn't require him to live in any specific place, so about two years ago he decided to leave Idaho Falls and move to Lewiston, at least for awhile.
He is survived by his sister, Jeanne, of Meridian, Idaho; brothers, William (Mary Jo), of Lewiston, Raymond (Hei Suk), of Rockville, Md., and Ronald (Julie), of Colorado Springs, Colo.; nephews, Brad, Luke, Jeff and Lance; nieces, Dana and Diane; and his very dear friend, Julie Hermsen, of Norfolk, Neb. He also is survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins. His parents preceded him in death.
His family and friends will gather later, and his ashes will be scattered in a special place.
