Doug was a fun neighbor, a great classmate, but most of all a wonderful friend. He was always happy and smiling and training like crazy to be a great wrestler. We will always treasure our memories of him. We are deeply sorry for your loss.

Memories of my childhood have been running through my mind since I heard of my Uncle Doug's passing. I remember Christmas Eve's where our family would be together until 2 in the morning playing games. I remember calling Doug and Steph's house and hearing their message on their answering machine when they weren't home. And I remember Doug always teasing me, teaching me to laugh at myself. I'm going to miss you, Uncle, and I'll always remember you.

The world has lost a father, husband, brother, son and a trucking industry pioneer and visionary. Douglas Bench of Blackfoot, ID on January 18, 2013 after a courageous fight with cancer.
Doug was a trucker's trucker. He believed to the depths of his soul that, given opportunity, along with knowledge of how the business of trucking worked, and then paid a fair rate, was all that many truckers needed to be successful. The result is Ankle Pik: his dream fulfilled.
His three sons will carry this legacy and Ankle Pik on to new heights as there is a lot of Doug in each one of them.
Doug was my very first student and client over 12 years ago and I worked with him to achieve his dream of building the trucking company that would be left to his three sons. The passing of the torch has occurred far earlier than Doug or anyone wanted though.
I'm honored to have been a close friend of Doug's, and his friendship will be sorely missed. But his love of humanity and love of trucking will be the legacy he leaves with all of us.
Please put Jennifer, Doug's wife, her son Brendon Hatfield; daughters, Faith and Hope Hatfield, along with his sons Zach Bench (with his wife Brittney and grandson McCray), Kaleb Bench and Brock Bench in your prayers as they cope with this very difficult time.
Feel free to call on me anytime if I can be of help,. It's a personal promise I made with Doug, that I would be available to his sons to help them as needed to continue his dream, Ankle Pik Trucking that will support his sons and their families from here into the future.
God Bless all of you and may you seek and find the strength needed through your faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.
