Ira Clark Davis, 95, of Ammon, passed away Monday, Feb. 7, 2011, at his home.
Ira was born Jan. 17, 1916, in Teton City, Idaho, the eldest son of four children born to Ira Joseph Davis and Louisa Clark Davis. He was raised in the Teton Basin and lived for a time in Gilmore, Idaho. He attended school for a time in Leadore, Idaho, where he carved his initials in a desk, which his children later discovered.
Ira married Leola Welker on Feb. 21, 1937, in Rexburg, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized June 5, 1965, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Together they raised nine children and enjoyed 74 years of marriage. They made their home in Grant and Swan Valley, where Ira worked for the Weeks Brothers until the Palisades Dam was built. He then moved to Leadore, where he worked for James Ellsworth until 1963, when he moved to Idaho Falls to work for Lynn Mickelsen. He moved to Paul to work the Simplot feedlots, then moved back to Lemhi to work for George Ellsworth, later moving to Shoshone, then Jerome and then back to Shoshone.
On his 65th birthday, Ira bought the old Meppen farm on County Line Road in Idaho Falls and raised registered Morgan horses, also running an 89-acre ranch until he was 86 years old, when he moved into Idaho Falls to retire. He enjoyed going to rodeos and horse sales until his health gave out on him.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed leather-working and made bridles and fixed saddles using leather and rawhide.

Trying desperately to find a way to make it to Idaho Falls. Would really like to be at my Grandfathers funeral. I was only two weeks away from the trip I have planned to visit everyone there. Love you Grandpa!
