Jonathan Burdick Obituary

Jonathan Ralph Burdick, born December 14, 1961 in Oxford, OH, passed away on January 13, 2025 in St. Louis, MO of natural causes. A gifted writer and thinker, Jonathan graduated from IFHS in 1979, where he excelled in academics, especially speech & debate, was captain of the scholastic team and a Presidential Scholar. He earned a B.A. in Philosophy from Idaho State University in 1987 and a J.D. from Franklin Pierce Law Center in 1990. As a professional, Jonathan applied his legal and technical skills for many employers, including Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Life Medical Sciences, McDonnell Douglas Aircraft, Anheuser-Busch, and the St. Louis University Schools of Law and Medicine. In his later years, Jonathan became an intellectual property specialist in private practice, and developed inventions in diverse fields such as sporting goods, home security, automobiles, software systems, and defensive anti-laser systems for aircraft, for which he was awarded several U.S. patents. Jonathan enjoyed reading, writing, sports, and war games, and was a worthy opponent in chess and scrabble. Jonathan is survived by daughter Caitlin Blaney of South Hadley, MA, son James (Sabrina) Ahlemeier of Naples, FL, grandchildren Giulia and Matteo, father Gary (Claire) Burdick, mother Rosalie Ferguson, and brothers Benjamin (Nicole) Burdick and Sean (Rochelle) Burdick. We will miss his creative assailment on life.

Jonathan was a good friend of mine somebody who I could always speak to about sound advice Jonathan and me met each in early 2010. He was a really great friend. He was a quiet thinker and he could take and put things in a different perspective no matter what it was. He was quick and perceptive with Witt that was immeasurable We often did things together. He was a friend who will be truly missed, (crying) ................
