Karl Nuttall Obituary

Karl Victor Nuttall, 77, of Idaho Falls, passed away Oct. 10, 2016, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

Karl was born Sept. 5, 1939, in Idaho Falls to James Vernard Nuttall and Iris Verrena Andersen Nuttall. Karl grew up in a home with nine brothers and sisters. His parents operated a grocery store in Idaho Falls, Nuttall's Market, where he learned to work.

After high school, he worked for Valley Glass and then moved to California. He managed a crew of glaziers for many years there. When retiring, he moved back to Idaho Falls and lived his life as a bachelor - golfing, fishing and restoring cars.

Then his childhood sweetheart, Helen Thornly, came to Idaho Falls to visit family. Karl was smitten. On July 26, 2008, they were married and settled in Idaho Falls. They were together for just three years before Helen passed away. Karl said many times that their time together was the happiest of his life.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Karl is survived by his sister, Sally Bugg of St. George, Utah; brother, Roger (Doris) Nuttall of Woodville, Idaho; brother, Garth (Javann) Nuttall of West Jordan, Utah; sister, Nancy (Jerry) Monahan of Rancho Mirage, Calif.; sister, Rosalyn (Race) Davies of Alpine, Utah; brother, Ellis (Marti) Nuttall of Provo, Utah; sister, Laura (Darrell) Tanner of Ogden, Utah; and sister, Kathleen Gill of Ogden.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Iris; his wife, Helen; a sister, Iris Pershall; and twin brothers, George and Gene Nuttall, who died in infancy.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave. The family will visit with friends from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.woodfuneralhome.com.

We are so sorry to hear about Karl's passing. Karl has always been a good friend to both Don and I. We enjoyed his visits when he came thru California and when he would call at Christmas. Karl was always a gentleman and a man with a good heart. We pray that now he is no longer in pain and that the Lord is taking good care of him. We tried to visit him when we were in Idaho Falls in September, but he must have been too ill to call back. We will miss him and his hardy laugh. Love and blessings to all his family and good friends.
