Larry L. Stark passed on 12, January 2025.
Born in Trenton, Nebraska, to Anthony and Irene Stark. He had several siblings, was the 4th of 5 sons, and one sister who passed as a child. His younger years were spent working with his father and brothers farming and other jobs in and around Trenton.
Graduating from high school, he joined the Air Force and was later stationed in Hawaii. It was there he met his future wife, Howardyne. She had previously been married and had children but that did not matter.
After his time in the Air Force he returned to Nebraska for brief time but went back to Hawaii, proposing to Howardyne. They were married and he became a step dad. They lived in Hawaii until 1964. He then moved his family, Howardyne and Bob, to the mainland. They traveled and Larry worked at various jobs in Idaho, Colorado, Nebraska and eventually back to Idaho where Howardyne had family working at the NRTS, the site.
He worked various jobs in Idaho, for Glenn Koester - Farms on the old Lower Power Plant Road, later Jensen Farms - Bill Jensen. He worked for Woodrow Arrington - Arrington Farms - a literal zoo, Roberts I'd. He then became employed with McDonalds, Idaho Falls where remained until he retired.
The passing of my mother, his wife Howardyne, affected him greatly. He later remarried, divorced and remained single until his passing. He moved to Missouri, bought some land and began re-doing a cabin. His brother Jim came out to help and presto, there was a two story house. He spent his last years mostly in Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his wife Howardyne Stark, brothers Earl, Wayne, and Ronald Stark, his sister passed as a young child, and Howardyne's sons Michael and Lyndsay Mattox.
He is survived by older brother James "Jim" Stark (Allene Parrish) of Florida, sister in law Ardis (Ronald) Stark of Kansas, son Robert (Sheron) Stark of Oregon, step daughter Marylyn Nimsger of Hawaii, Shawna (Michael) Mattox of Idaho and grandchildren, step grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
I still get asked if "Ironman" really was my grandfather and get an extra laugh when I reply yes and that he used to live three houses down from "Tom Jones" in Trenton, Nebraska, which he did at one time.
No services are currently planned. In lieu of flowers and considering his love of animals, donations should be made to a local shelter of choice.
