Neil Holverson Obituary

Neil Duane Holverson, 55, of Ammon, Idaho passed away on May 26, 2025.

Neil was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho on August 29, 1969, to Peggy Storer and Darrell Holverson. Neil graduated from Rigby High School in 1987.

On June 18, 1988, he married Chris Neville. They welcomed three children: Tyson, Kandra, and Britnee. Together they raised their family in Idaho Falls and Rigby, Idaho. They later divorced. Neil married Kristy Lake on February 12, 2010. They enjoyed life together camping, cruising, and spending time with their families.

Neil is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many callings but especially enjoyed serving the youth. He spent time doing family history, and particularly loved sharing photos and stories of his ancestors.

Although life presented many challenges, Neil found strength and joy in sobriety. He celebrated 5 years clean in September 2024 and was looking forward to reaching 6 years. He built many important relationships with members of the recovery community and lovingly referred to them as his "other family".

One of Neil's greatest joys in life was his 15 grandchildren. He loved to take them on adventures, tease them just enough, and teach them the skills he specialized in. In his spare time, he could be found fishing, or on the golf course hitting balls with his family.

Neil was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lavon and Edna Storer, in-laws, Harry and Venna Wilhelm, and Linda Lake, brother, John Holverson.

He is survived by his wife, Kristy Holverson; his children, Tyson (Lexi) Holverson, Kandra (Rob) Wadsworth, and Britnee (Nick) McIntier; 15 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild. He is survived by his sisters Pam (Ken) Kerns, Melissa (Mike) Mitchell, and Alison (Nick) Madden, and brothers Joel (Marissa) Holverson, and Chris (Kymlee) Holverson.

A funeral service will be held Friday, May 30, at 11:00 a.m. at the Ammon LDS Stake Center 2055 South Ammon Road, Ammon, Idaho 83406. A viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6:00-7:30 pm at Eckersell Funeral Home in Rigby, Idaho, 101 W. Main Street, Rigby, ID; and also Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:45 am at the church. Interment will be in the Ririe Shelton Cemetery.

Sad news. I had the honor and privilege to be Neil´s Agriculture Teacher and FFA Advisor at Rigby High School in the mid-80s. He was one of my best students. He was our FFA president. Also, a friend who came to my defense when others attacked. I know Neal had his struggles as many of us do.
Gods Speed Neil, no more pain no more sorrow. We will see you someday on the other side.

We had the pleasure to meet Neil because he was our daughter´s neighbor. Neil was the true definition of a good neighbor. He helped our daughter whenever he could. He listened to them and was friendly and caring! What a blessing. He will be missed but always in our hearts.

I had the blessing of living next to Neil and Kristy in Ammon right after my divorce. Neil helped me with the yard and snow removal. He was always helping us in some way or another. Such a good person! He will be missed
