Seiji Shiratori Obituary

Seiji Shiratori was born June 27, 1938, in Rexburg, Idaho, one of twelve children born to Japanese immigrants. He was a child when World War II heightened the discrimination, bringing harassment, intimidation, and property loss. After graduating Idaho Falls High School, Seiji joined the U.S. Army. He married

Linda Anderson, of Blackfoot, Idaho, in 1966. After the army, he worked his entire adult life for Basic American Foods, in Blackfoot, rising from sweeping floors and working the production line to serving as a special projects manager in research and development. His name is on at least one patent for food products Americans eat daily. He retired in 2004, and continued to consult for the firm for a few years.

He passed away January 31, 2024, at his home in Idaho Falls. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his younger son Masaru Shiratori and his older son Seiji T. Shiratori with his wife Alisa and their children, Mei and Kai; and his sister Chitosei (Shiratori) Chun, and many nieces and nephews. We love him, and he will be missed dearly.

A memorial service and celebration of life will be announced in the future.

Dearest Family,
We are so shocked and deeply saddened by Seiji's passing. We enjoyed a wonderful friendship while we worked with him at BAF for many years. He was a very friendly, kind, generous, smart man of great integrity.

Seiji traveled many times with Ken to resolve major customer product issues. Ken said Seiji's product knowledge was critical in solving these issues.

We consider Seiji a very dear friend. We are so very sorry for your loss. We know his passing will leave a huge hole in your hearts and lives. We pray that you will find comfort in your wonderful memories with him and knowing that he is with God now and free from life's challenges. We know you will see him again.

Our sincerest thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Love, Ken and Gayle Wrightson
