Shirly Baron Obituary
On October 4th, 2025, Shirly Elain Rodgers Baron passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side. Shirly was born in Blackfoot Idaho on March 29th, 1943, to Russel and Verda Rodgers.
While still in high school she met and married her one and only love Robert Baron. Soon after the birth of their first daughter Barbara, they moved to California where Robert learned the craft of pool plastering. That is where their first son Jeffory was born. They then moved to Texas to start Baron Pool Plastering and finished their family with a second son Paul and a second daughter Debra.
Robert was the muscle of the business, but Shirly was the brains. She ran it from the top to the bottom and together they were able to retire early so they could return to Blackfoot. But retirement didn't sit well with Shirly, so she opened a paperback book exchange. This soon evolved into B&R Crafts and Hobbies. But where Shirly went, so did her books. They always consumed half of her store.
Shirly was an avid reader but also loved oil painting, quilting, crocheting and cooking. The grands and great grands couldn't wait to go get homemade chicken noodles and rolls after trick or treating. But her greatest love were her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and the children of community. Many will remember going to the back of the craft store to learn to paint and grabbing a book on the way out. Shirly quietly supported many children's events over the years including community and school sporting events, the children's Christmas and shop with a cop. In her later years she devoted her spare time with her daughter Barbara making hats and scarves for the homeless plus any other group they found who were in need.
Shirly is survived by her children Barbara, Paul (Shawna), Debra (Jerry), and daughter in law Kitty. Her grandchildren Joshua (Jodi), Paul (Melissa), Courtney (Derek), Summer (Stephen), Jeffory (Jordyn), Lexi, Lacey, Kaylee, Brittney, Jace (Megan), Shay (Shanae), T.J. (Ariel) and 22 great grandbabies.
She was preceded in death by her parents, several siblings, and finally her beloved husband and son Jeffory who welcomed her with open arms! She has waited for this moment for so long!
The family would like to thank Dr. Fackrell (Matty as she affectionally called him), Alliance Hospice and their staff. Do not grieve Tiffany, she is finally at peace and left here with another person she loved.
Per her wishes, there will be a private ceremony at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to one of her causes Bingham Count Search and Rescue, Bingham County Children's Christmas or Bingham County Sheriff for the shop with a cop program.
To all the friends who became her family, she talked about all of you up to the end. You filled her life with joy and happiness. The family is forever thankful for the love you gave her. She was a special person to all of us!
The family is under the care of Hawker Funeral Home.
