Abigail Carol (Blinn) Simione
HUDSON FALLS--Abigail Carol (Blinn) Simione, 88, of Hudson Falls, passed away at her home with her loving and devoted son, Michael, by her side.
Born on April 14, 1936, in Glens Falls Hospital, she was the daughter of the late Morse and Elizabeth (Cahill) Blinn. She attended and graduated from Hudson Falls in 1954. While attending Hudson Falls, Gail was part of the debate team and was head cheerleader. Her love of sports was mainly because she wanted to impress one particular athlete, a boy from Fenimore, Mike Simione. Her plan worked and in 1957 she married her high school sweetheart at St. Mary's Church in Hudson Falls, where they were members.
After graduation, Gail began her long and dedicated career at Beneficial, working first in the Hudson Falls office on Main Street and later in the Glens Falls office on Glen Street. She devoted 54 years to the company, always greeting customers with a warm smile and helpful advice.
On September 29, 1969, Gail and her husband, Mike, welcomed their only child, Michael Morse Simione. Michael was the light of her life, and Gail took great pride in being the ever-patient, loving mother who attended every game, event, and milestone in her son's life. Skiing was a cherished family tradition, with the Simione family spending many winters at West Mountain and traveling to ski resorts across the U.S. and Europe. Gail was also blessed with three grandchildren, Ashley Simione, Christopher VanKleeck, and Abigail Simione, who brought her immense joy.
Gail's heart swelled with happiness when her son moved back home to care for her and her husband during their later years. Michael's selfless dedication to his parents over the last decade was a source of pride for their extended family, who are grateful for the love and care he provided.
Gail was predeceased by her beloved husband, Mike, who passed away on December 15, 2022; as well as by her sister, Margaret "Peg" Doyle; and her brothers, Robert "Bob" Blinn and Peter Blinn. She was also predeceased by several in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to her son and grandchildren, Gail is survived by her sisters: Susan Simione, Judy Comar, Pat (Louie) Luciano, Nancy (Elwyn) Bates, Jean Wicks, and Penny (Jim) Clary. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law: Florence Blinn, Mary Simione, Rose Granger, Victoria Mumblo, Diana Martin, Fanny Tatsey, and Eleanor Simione; along with many nieces and nephews.
Family was always at the center of Gail's life. From a young age, she and Mike helped care for her younger siblings, a tradition of care that continued throughout her life. Being the Matriarch of the Blinn family, she never missed a birthday or holiday and made sure that each of her 30 Blinn nieces and nephews knew how much they were loved. Aunt Gail's door was always open, without a phone call or a knock, she made each person who entered feel special and welcome. Her home was a second home to many, filled with warmth, laughter, and unconditional love.
Arrangements are in the care of the M.B. Funeral Home, 82 Broadway, Fort Edward, N.Y. 12828.
