Barbara (Chadwick) Jero
WHITEHALL - Barbara "Mema", blessed to be within the comforts of her own home, came to rest peacefully into God's loving arms early Friday morning, October 13, 2023.
The daughter and one of five farm girls: Marj, Bug, Barb, Betty and Sally raised by the late Clifford and MaryEllen (Williams) Chadwick.
From a one room Upper Turnpike schoolhouse with 12 grades, a wood stove and an outhouse to a 1961 Whitehall Central School graduate.
Courageously battling homesickness by writing and receiving letters, Barbara earned her RN degree from Champlain Valley School of Nursing in 1964.
Diesel odors would always bring her back to those long motion sickness bus rides between home and Plattsburgh.
Barb experienced Obstetrics, Social Work and being a stay-at-home mom, before giving 40 years to the Glens Falls Hospital IV Department, retiring in 2012.
Barb never spent a day without "JW" on TV, a kitty on her shoulder, on the arm of the chair and on her lap helping with her crafty projects.
Not a single newborn would enter her life without having a bathrobe hand made specific for them and the annual expectation of her dishcloth sets, Chex mix and Swedish meatballs will be cherished forever.
As well as her kitties, crafts and grandchildren, she loved hearing stories about the younger nieces and nephews and telling stories about the older ones!
Barbara was predeceased by her high school sweetheart and husband of 37 years, Howard "Butch, Jake", sister/brother-in-law, Marjorie/Henry "Corky" Marcy, sister, Dorothy "Bug" Chadwick, niece, Sally Chadwick Stevens.
Cherishing Barbara's memory are her sister, Betty (Frank) Barber, Clemons; her children: John (Teresa) Jero, Kingsbury, Tammy (Tim) Harte, Castleton, Jamie Jero (Cathy), Whitehall; Mema's grandchildren: Taylor Jero, Diana Jero, Devin Peterson, Paxton Peterson, James Jero, Jr; as well as a special place always in her heart for Glenn Peterson and Halie Gosselin.
Barb's family wishes to extend their deepest appreciation for all of the wonderful cards, photos and memories shared with Barb. As well as the kindness and compassion shown to both Barb and her family.
Special thanks to Reverend Gebo's Hospital blessing and home visits/communions with Pastor Pete.
A Celebration of Life and graveside service where Barbara will be laid to rest with the love of her life, will be at the convenience of the family.

I worked with Barb and her daughter n law Theresa at GFH night shift. Barb was always polite, had a smile and no matter how busy she would make time for your call for an IV. Am sure she is truly missed. Aileen ( Hawley ) Morris

Little Barb was a wonderful coworker who helped me immensely over the years to become a confident IV nurse, especially with kids. You (her family) were always a great source of pride and love for her. She loved to share the positive stories of each of you. You are all in my thoughts and prayers during this time. Little Barb was one of the best I ever had the pleasure to know. Working with her taught me how to have patience and trust myself. Much love to her wonderful family that was always first in her mind. Big Barb (Leyden). May she be at peace with Howard
