Brian McCann Obituary

Brian McCann

March 4, 1958 - January 28, 2025

HUDSON FALLS – Brian J. "Beege" McCann, 66, of Hudson Falls, N.Y., passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday evening, January 28, 2025.

Born on March 4, 1958 in Glens Falls, N.Y., he was a life-long Hudson Falls resident and son of the late Paul T. and Helen F. (Zolnowski) McCann. Beege was a graduate of Hudson Falls High School and attended college at Niagara University and finished his associate degree at Adirondack Community College. Beege worked with his family for almost 40 years at McCann's Pharmacy where he was a pharmacy technician.

He was a sports enthusiast and loved to talk and debate about sports and put his knowledge to work as a volunteer, coaching youth basketball. Beege got his nickname from the legendary Coach Luciano and friends and family used it affectionately for the rest of his life. He was a family man first and devoted son. In his mother's later years, he made sure she had everything she needed and was always there to take care of her.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by an infant brother, James McCann.

He is survived by his sister, Kathleen McCann of Hudson Falls; his brothers, Dr. Thomas McCann (Sharon) of Orchard Park, N.Y., and Bonita Springs, Fla., and Richard McCann of Hudson Falls; his nieces and nephews, Robert (Joyce) Doty, Adam (Elizabeth) Doty, Aaron (Brigid) McCann, Kara (Andrew) Devine, Laura (Gregg) Campbell, Christopher (Christine) McCann, Jason McCann, and Matthew (Kali) McCann; and many great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m., on Friday, January 31, 2025, at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at St. Mary's/St. Paul's Catholic Church, on the park in Hudson Falls, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Desmond Rossi, pastor.

Rite of committal will take place in the spring at St. Mary's Cemetery in Fort Edward, N.Y.

Memorial donations may be made in his name to Roswell Park Alliance Foundation, A Taste For Life, Elm & Carlton Streets, Buffalo, N.Y. 14263.

I have so many fond memories of playing at McCann's field, which is what we all called their backyard. Many games of football, basketball and baseball with all of the neighborhood kids and of course Beege. In the winter there were also plenty of snow ball fights, snow angels, and snowmen. Thanks for all those wonderful childhood memories Beege!
