Elna Meader

BRANT LAKE - Elna Meader passed away July 5, 2025 at Havenwood Heritage Heights Retirement Home in Concord, NH. Elna was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who dedicated her life to her family. Born in 1932 in Schenectady, New York, Elna was one of two children of Chester and Grace Bisbee.

Elna grew up in Schenectady, where she met her beloved husband, Jerome "Jerry" C. Meader Jr. and enjoyed over 63 years together. After Jerry retired from the U.S. Army in September 1972, Elna decided to go back to school for her Master's in Special Education and spent 21 years as a Special Education teacher at Cornwall Central High School.

Once she retired, Elna continued to be active in the Brant Lake community, driving for Meals on Wheels and working alongside her husband Jerry as Mrs. Claus for Rotary for many years. Elna absolutely loved her time at Brant Lake and cherished the friends she made there. A proud member of the Brant Lake Association, Elna worked tirelessly to garner support and raise funds to preserve the lake against the invasive plant species, milfoil.

Elna is predeceased by her twin brother, Robert Bisbee and her husband Jerry.

She is survived by her children, Jerome "Bucky" C. Meader III and Linda Meader Bean; her grandchildren, Sarah Bell, Ethan Bean, and Stephen Bean; and her 5 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life is planned for next summer.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her name to the Brant Lake Association at P.O. Box 88, Brant Lake, NY 12815.
