April 19, 1934 - April 7, 2024
FORT ANN, NY/COCOA BEACH, FL - Henry H. "Stoney" Stone left this earthly world Sunday, April 7, 2024 and returned to the loving arms of his beloved wife, Trudy, and nothing could make him happier. Born in Attica, NY on April 19, 1934 to Ercelle Stone and Geraldine Bradway Stone he was just two weeks shy of his 90th birthday.
Stoney moved to Fort Ann, NY in 1947 with his parents and brothers. He attended and graduated from Fort Ann Central in 1951 having played baseball, basketball, track and 8-man football.
Also known as Dad, Opa, Grampa, Henry-boy, Stoney, and friend, he was a husband first but also a father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather and cousin.
Stoney was a salesman for Canada Dry Beverage Corporation for two years and then worked for General Electric for a year before beginning his 40-year career at the New York Telephone Company from which he retired in 1995. During his time as a lineman for the phone company, Stoney also owned and operated the Stone Crest Inn in Queensbury, NY for many years where he catered weddings, union meetings, retirement parties and other large functions.
On January 31, 1987 he married the love of his life, Waltraud "Trudy", and they had a wonderful life together until her untimely passing on June 9, 2014.
Stoney was a 65-year Mason and former Master of the Fort Ann Masonic Lodge #93 where he introduced the annual steak roast. Additionally, he was a 50-year member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, his home lodge being #81 in Queensbury, NY.
His passions included golfing, the Adirondacks, spending time on Lake Hadlock, Sunday "mass" hosted by C&M, watching the Buffalo Bills and, "checking in" to acknowledge his good friends "behind-the-strip" and of course traveling. He would take summer trips to Wells, ME, he experienced Oktoberfest in Germany, saw the canals in Venice, several trips to Las Vegas, an NFL game in Miami, visited some iconic National Parks, as well as his three trips to Croatia to visit his grandsons. In June of 2022, Stoney, at 88 years old, executed the World's Highest Tandem Skydive from 18,000 feet, and in May of 2023 at 89, he ziplined along Niagara Falls.
Stoney was predeceased by his wife, Trudy, his brothers: Fred Stone (Maureen), Al Stone (Joan), Terry Stone and son-in-law, Tom Golden. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Ann Stone; daughters: Donna Rudman (Bob), Deborah Lawrence (Paige), Jeanne Golden, Debbie Robbins (Edgar); sons: Brian Stone (Maja), Flint Stone (Theresa), Jamon Stone (Tina) and Rick Stanley (Patty); grandchildren: Keith Rudman (Krystal), Kevin Rudman (Jennifer), Mathew Sechler (Emily), Erica Marion (Chris), Royce Lawrence (Margaret), Ryan Lawrence (Brittany), Andrew Stone, Taylor Stone, Jan Brian Stone, Victor Ray Stone, Ashley Silvernail (Chad), Allison Stanley, Joseph Robbins, Scott Robbins, Timothy Robbins; many great-grandchildren; cousins and several special nieces and nephews.
At Stoney's request there will be no formal services, however there will be a party in his honor April 19, 2024 on what would have been his 90th birthday, at his favorite spot, the Sunset Cafe Waterfront Bar and Grill in Cocoa Beach.
