Herbert "Herb" Doll

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. Herbert "Herb" Doll, age 83, formerly of Lake Luzerne, died Monday, July 7, 2008. He was born on Nov. 9, 1924, in Brooklyn. Herb served in the United States Navy during World War II. He moved to Lake Luzerne in 1973 and retired to Ormond Beach in 1993. Herb worked for the U.S. Postal Service in New York City for 16 years. He owned and operated Doll's Stationary Store in Brooklyn. He was a 32nd Degree Shriner with the Kismet Temple of Long Island, N.Y. He was the founder of the Kismet Cycle Patrol, Long Island and the Adirondack SAMS Chapter, Glens Falls. He is best remembered for the love of his late wife, Midge to whom he was married for 61 years and their fondness for motorcycling. Herb is survived by his children: two sons, Herbert F. (Karen) Doll of South Hampton, N.Y., and Robert J. Doll of Lake Luzerne; one daughter, Pat (Jeff) Vasilinda of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; daughters-in-law, Susan Englese and Josephine Doll, both of Lake Luzerne; grandchildren: Patti, Jennifer, Laura, Herbie; one great-granddaughter, Elena. He was predeceased by his wife Midge and daughter, Margaret M. McGuire and son-in-law, David H. McGuire. Graveside services will be conducted at a date and time to be announced.
