CHESTERTOWN - Jacqueline M. "Jackie" Nelson, 82, died Wednesday March 11, 2026 at Elderwood Nursing Home in North Creek, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on September 15, 1943, in California, she was the daughter of the late Milton and Vlasta (Honz) Roberts.
Jackie was employed at the Nice and Easy Convenient Store in Chestertown for nearly three decades. She loved her customers and greeted everyone with a smile. She truly enjoyed being in her own home, sitting at her kitchen table doing puzzles while listening to WCKM Radio and the scanner in the background. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Besides her parents, Jackie was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, William R. Nelson Sr; her brother, Milton H. Roberts Jr; and her son-in-law, James C. Darrow.
Survivors include her three children: William R. (Laurie) Nelson, Jr. of Selkirk, Kristin Nelson-Darrow of Chestertown and Karin (Michael) Peet of Pottersville; three grandchildren: Andi Alexis Paradis, Tyler M Peet and Madeline Wilson; and also her bonus daughter, Kimberly (Keith) Dubay.
Relatives and friends may call from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Barton-McDermott Funeral Home, Inc., 9 Pine St., Chestertown, NY 12817.
Spring interment will be at Brant Lake Cemetery, Brant Lake, N.Y.
Memorials in Jackie's name may be made to C.R. Wood Cancer Center, 100 Park St., Glens Falls, NY 12801 or any animal shelter of your choice.
