CHESTERTOWN - James W. Speenburgh, 63, passed away peacefully at his home Monday January 18, 2021. Born September 19, 1957 in Catskill he was the son of the late Worthington Michael and Marie Alice Speenburgh.
Jim worked as a Master Carpenter throughout his career, restoring the Historic Starbuck Farm in Chestertown. He also worked with Brian Wells at B Wells Builders for 16 years and prior to that he was employed at Lincoln Logs in Chestertown.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother Larry Speenburgh, and niece Hope Mae Speenburgh also his beloved aunt and uncle, Edward and Evelyn MacGlashan of Chestertown.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 42 years Jeanette; and survived by his beloved golden retriever Lucy; beloved sister Fay Lauster and her husband Tom; two nephews Jeff (Stacey) Lauster their children Serenity and Jett, Kevin (Kim) Lauster and their daughter MyKenzie; sister-in-law Sandy Speenburgh their children Trevor, Shannon and Carrie; and also his wonderful great nieces and nephews.
Jim was a wonderful friend to all, and had a special bond with Marty Cooper, Bill MacGlashan, Brian Wells, Jim Regan, and Fabien Conlon.
The light of Jims life were his beloved dogs throughout his life, Gidgett, Pebbles, Tigger, Lilly, and Emma all who will join him in heaven for beautiful walks together.
He will be immensely missed.
The funeral service will be private due to Covid. There will be memorial service at the Speenburgh Home in the Spring/Summer 2021 for all to share their memories together. Arrangements are entrusted to Barton-McDermott Funeral Home, Inc., 9 Pine St., Chestertown, NY 12817.
