Joseph A. Brablc
June 27, 1941 - July 24, 2025
QUEENSBURY- Joseph A. Brablc passed away on July 24, 2025, unexpectantly at his home in Queensbury. He was born on June 27, 1941, in Glens Falls, the son of Joseph F. Brablc and Alice E. Nemecek. Joseph was the third, and oldest son, of five children.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Joanne Brablc-Eckel and Carol Sue DeVivo. He will be lovingly remembered by his sister, Katherine Trackey; his brother, Edward Brablc; nieces, Suzanne, Alicia and Brianne; his nephew, Christopher; and grand-nephews, Tyler and Joshua.
After graduation from Fort Edward High School, his pursuit of a college degree was interrupted by him actively serving in the United States Army in Vietnam. Following his return from the Army, he resumed his pursuit of postgraduate studies, earning degrees from Plattsburgh State, University of Michigan, and ultimately culminating in a PhD in Psychology from Syracuse University. Joseph utilized his studies as a chemistry teacher in the Greenwich Central School District, and later as a guidance counselor in the Cortland City School System.
Joseph was a man of many interests and talents. He enjoyed attending musical and theatrical performances offered in this area, but he also had personal talents that made him a well-rounded individual. You could often find him "antiquing" … "in the pursuit of that rare find". He possessed many artistic abilities, writing and painting being two mentionable ones. Being an accomplished watercolor painter, many have been graced with his creations; in addition, the research and writing of the family lineage has painted a picture of our family's core structure. Cooking was another of his favorite pastimes, one he, too, delighted in sharing with friends and family. During the last few years, he was able to combine his love and knowledge of this area with storytelling by acting as a docent at the Old Fort Museum in Fort Edward, an activity he thoroughly enjoyed. Perhaps most cherished by him was his weekly meetings with his fellow Mahjong players in Queensbury over the past decade, a source of great joy and companionship.
Joseph's warmth, wisdom, and generous spirit touched the lives of his students, colleagues, friends, and family. His absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Dr. David Cunningham and the staff at Irongate Family Practice, who treated Joe in such a compassionate and caring manner during the years. Too, there are not words to express the gratitude that we all feel for his lifelong friend, Stan Cianfarano. The friendship that Stan offered Joe throughout his life, and especially these last few months, far exceeded normal boundaries and was not only a comfort to Joe, but to us, as well.
A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, August 6th, at 11 a.m., preceded by a "gathering" at 10:30 a.m. at St Joseph's Catholic Church, 164 Broadway, Fort Edward, NY 12828. Interment will follow at St. Joseph's - St. Mary's Cemetery in Fort Edward with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Joseph A. Brablc's memory may be made to the
Alzheimer's Association Northeastern NY Chapter, 1003 New Louden Road, Suite 201, Cohoes, NY 12047, designated for training and education programs.
