Joseph Chuckrow Obituary

NISKAYUNA, N.Y. * Joseph I. Chuckrow, of Niskayuna, N.Y,. passed away on Friday evening, May 11, 2007, at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany.

Born in Troy, N.Y., in 1936, he was the son of the late Herman and Ethel Chuckrow.

Joe was a graduate of Troy High School and Cornell University.

He worked for his father and uncles running the former Jos. Chuckrow's son's poultry company of Troy and Albany, N.Y. before starting his own food brokerage firm, Joe Chuckrow Sales, Latham, N.Y.

In his youth he was an active outdoorsman and played hockey, baseball and polo. Joe's passion was boating, and was on the board of the Harris Bay Yacht Club, serving both as Commodore and Vice Commodore. He spent most of his free time on Lake George with family and friends. Joe was a former board member and a district director of Cornell University's Capital Region Alumni Club.

He was an active member of Temple Gates of Heaven in Schenectady, N., having served on the board and was president of the Mr. and Mrs. Club.

Joe was the beloved husband of Winnie Chuckrow for 48 years. Father of Ben ( Deidre) Chuckrow of Saratoga Springs and Davida (Tim) Monroe of Schenectady; brother to Margery (Joseph) Massry of North Miami, Fla., and devoted grandfather to his three grandsons, Brandon, Maxim and Sachiel.

Services at Congregation Gates of Heaven, 852 Ashmore Ave., Schenectady on Monday, May 14, 2007, at 2 pm.

Interment will follow in the Beth El Cemetery on Belle Avenue in Troy, N.Y.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember Joe in a special way may make a memorial contribution in his memory to Renaissance Musical Arts, 46 Holmes Dale, Albany, NY 12203, Congregation Gates of Heaven, 852 Ashmore Ave., Schenectady, NY 12309 or the Double 'H' Hole in the Woods Ranch, 97 Hidden Valley Road, Lake Luzerne, NY 12846.

The period of mourning will be observed on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at the Chuckrow residence, 78 Birchwood Lane, in Niskayuna, N.Y.

Funeral arrangements are by the Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 W ashington Ave., Albany, N.Y.
