Luanne Stanton Obituary

Luanne Elizabeth Stanton

January 20, 1954 - September 19, 2025

STANTON - Luanne (Lu) Elizabeth (Wilson) Stanton, 71, passed away into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, September 19, 2025, at Saratoga Hospital with her loving family by her side. Born on January 20, 1954, in Cambridge, N.Y. to her late parents Pauline (Brown) and Ervin Wilson, she enjoyed growing up on the Wilson Dairy farm in Salem, N.Y. In addition to her parents, Lu was predeceased by her brother, Richard Wilson. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 41 years, David; her son, Cory Stanton and his wife, Jocelyn; her daughter, Ashley Usher and her husband, Matt; her granddaughters, Callie and Kendall Usher, Sophie and Anna Stanton; her sisters-in-law, Monica Wilson, Sharon Stephenson and Debi Stanton-Berke; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Luanne graduated from Salem Washington Academy in 1972 and then went on to attend SUNY Cobleskill, graduating in 1974 with a degree in Medical Secretarial studies. Luanne then worked for 34 years at Washington County Social Services where she retired as a department supervisor. This was also where she met the love of her life, Dave Stanton. Dave knew he had a keeper early on, when asking her out for a first date he offered her a choice of either a movie or a Greenjackets football game and Lu chose the football game. It also didn't hurt that they were both big NY Yankees baseball fans. They were married in Queensbury in 1984. Twins followed soon after, Cory and Ashley, who Lu was a wonderful mother to throughout their childhood. Her family was the pride and joy of her life.

Lu and Dave retired together from Washington County Social Services on the same day at the age of 55. In retirement, they spent the next 10 years enjoying their camp and boat on Lake St. Catherine with family and friends. The boat was lovingly called "The Little LuLu" and provided innumerable hours of enjoyment for the family. Shortly after retirement, Lu became a grandmother. She was adored by her granddaughters and loved spending time with them baking, crafting and shopping. Also, having sleepovers and "Monday night dinners" where many memories were made. She loved nothing more than spending the holidays with her children and granddaughters and always made them feel special.

At Lu's request, there will be no calling hours. There will be a private burial and a celebration of life at the convenience of the family. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Saratoga Hospital for the care and compassion given during this difficult time. Memorial donations in Lu's memory can be made to the SPCA of Upstate, NY, 588 Queensbury Ave., Queensbury, NY 12804. Arrangements are in the care of M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main Street, South Glens Falls, NY 12803.
