Mary Blakeman Obituary
HUDSON FALLS -- Mary E. "Sally" Blakeman, 75, of Seventh Avenue, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005, at her home.
Born on Oct. 31, 1929, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Agnes (Bain) Twiss.
She was a graduate of Hudson Falls High School.
In October of 1950, she married George Blakeman, in Hudson Falls.
Sally was the mother of 10 children. Her life was her family. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was very sensitive toward her children's welfare. Sally enjoyed gardening and tending her roses. She loved going to Atlantic City with her husband.
Besides her parents, Sally was predeceased by a son, James David Blakeman, who passed away in April of 1982, a daughter, Gina Blakeman Wardell, who passed away in August of 2002, and her sister, Helen "Babe" Wood.
Survivors include her loving husband of 55 years, George Blakeman of Hudson Falls; eight children: Charles Blakeman and his wife, Brenda, of Hudson Falls, Donald Blakeman and his wife, Sharon, of Texas, Catherine Traver of Hudson Falls, Laurie Wadleigh and her husband, Donald, of Hudson Falls, Carol Blakeman of Tennessee, Christine Blakeman of Bedford Hills, N.Y., Leonard Blakeman of Rochester and Brett Blakeman of Hudson Falls; two brothers, Howard Twiss and his wife, Olive, of Queensbury, and Richard Twiss and his wife, Carol, of Fort Ann; 16 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St. in Hudson Falls.
A prayer will be said for Sally at 6 p.m. Wednesday, following the calling hours, with the Rev. Scott Smith officiating.
Burial will be in the spring at Moss Street Cemetery in the town of Kingsbury.
Sally's family wishes to thank all the family and friends who gave love and support to them through this very difficult time.
The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Charles R. Wood Cancer Center at Glens Falls Hospital, 102 Park St., Glens Falls, NY 12801.
