Patrick Abbott Dorgan
Nov. 11, 1982 - March 24, 2021
CHARLOTTE, NC - Patrick A. Dorgan, 38, formerly of Glens Falls, passed away unexpectedly in his newly adopted city of Charlotte, NC due to long term COVID-19 complications.
Born November 11, 1982, he is the son of Suzanne (Olcott) Dorgan and Matthew Dorgan. Patrick always took great satisfaction in the fact that he never had to go to school on his birthday as it was a national holiday.
Pat graduated from Glens Falls High School in 2001, where he played football and ran track. It was somewhere in these younger days that he acquired his lifelong nickname of "General". Upon graduating from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in 2005 with a degree in Business Administration, he began working at Bank of America and held many different positions throughout his career. He was still in their employ when he passed.
Always known for his winning personality, he had an infectious smile and a razor sharp sense of humor. There was always a snappy comeback at the ready. He was a loyal and supportive friend to so many. Pat was also a seasoned traveler, having visited Brazil five times (yes, five!), Australia and many U.S. cities. A dedicated sports fan, he enjoyed football and basketball in particular. He was delighted that he now lived in the hometown of his beloved Charlotte Hornets, having been a huge fan since childhood. Also a great passion was playing tournament poker. He was also a professional wrestling enthusiast to the nth degree. And then there was his great musical love of the band Green Day whom he had followed faithfully since the early 1990's.
Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Suzanne and Matthew Dorgan of Glens Falls; his brother, Nicholas and his life partner, Stephanie Butler of Fort Bragg, CA. His aunts and uncles: Mary Stearns of So. Glens Falls, Daniel (Marilyn) Dorgan of Rexford, NY, Ann Dorgan and Terri LeClair of Leesburg, FL and Rose O'Callaghan of Queensbury, NY. Also his cousins: Robert Stearns of So. Glens Falls, Lauren (Scott) Brooks of Maryland and Brianne (Sean) Mulligan of Schuylerville, NY. He also leaves behind his special companion, Maribel Tapia of Greensboro, NC and many devoted friends, co-workers and acquaintances. He will be sorely missed by all.
Patrick was pre-deceased by both sets of grandparents: Ella and Matthew Dorgan, Sr. of Glens Falls and Connie and Floyd Olcott of Ticonderoga, NY. He was cremated in North Carolina and traveled back home to us in the care of his brother, Nicholas.
There will be no calling hours. A casual Celebration of Life gathering will be held upstairs at the Bullpen Tavern in downtown Glens Falls on Saturday, June 5, 2021 from 2-6:00 p.m. Please follow current masking protocols. Please bring a photo or two to share on our memory board. So come join us - have a bite and raise a glass to our "General", a life cut tragically short, but well lived just the same.

Mattt and Sue, my sympathy..nextdoor neighbor for years and best friend to my son. I always will remember his half smirk just prior to a verbal comment that would usually leave me laughing and amused. will miss you Pat (The General)
