July 11, 1924 - June 19, 2025
Phyllis Mae Shepard (nee Gilson) 100, passed away on June 19, 2025 in Dexter, MI at the home of her daughter and son-in-law where she has resided since 2018.
She was born July 11, 1924 in Glens Falls, NY to Earl and Florence Gilson (Sawyer).
Phyllis graduated from Glens Falls High School in 1943 and was employed by Imperial Paper Corporation in Schenectady, NY until her marriage.
She married Francis R. Shepard on Oct 2, 1948 at St. Alphonsus Church in Glens Falls.
Together they enjoyed many years camping in the Adirondacks and travelling throughout New England. They made many trips around the country visiting their children and grandchildren.
Phyllis was a member of the Glens Falls Hospital Guild for more than 40 years and a bowler with the Sandy Hill Women's League.
During her years in Dexter, she was an active member of the Dexter Senior Center participating in several activities and making many friends.
She enjoyed many shopping trips to Frankenmuth with her daughters, one of her favorite places.
In addition to her husband, Frank; she was preceded in death by her brother, Earl (Bud) Gilson; sister, Alma Weis; several brothers and sisters-in-law.
She is survived by her children: Mary (John) Perelli, So. Windsor CT, Jane (James) Dempsey, Dexter, MI, Patricia Mark, Chamblee, GA and Richard (Martha) Shepard, Glens Falls, NY. Also surviving are her sister, Joan Mahar, Cleveland, GA; sister-in-law, Betty Taylor, Glens Falls, NY; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place at Regan Denny Stafford Funeral Home, Queensbury NY on July 23rd from 11:00 a.m., to 1:00 p.m., followed by memorial at 1:00 p.m. Burial at Pine View Cemetery immediately following memorial.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dexter Senior Center, 2810 Baker Rd, Dexter, MI 48130.
