Vincenzo Michael "Jim" Caccavo

Vincenzo Caccavo Obituary

SOUTH GLENS FALLS Vincenzo "Jim" Michael Caccavo, passed peacefully on Monday, May 19, 2008, at his home in South Glens Falls, N.Y., surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born July 10, 1958, in Glens Falls, Jim is the son of Joseph and Angelina Caccavo. Jim married Debbie Peters on July 12, 1980, at St. Joseph's Church in Fort Edward. Jim always knew what he wanted and he had the determination to follow through and achieve success. Jim started Tri County Painting in 1979 and then in addition created Caccavo General Contractors in 1986. He built numerous homes in this area, mostly in South Glens Falls, where he owns many subdivisions. Jim was always passionate about his business and spent his free time looking for new projects. He chose this area for a reason, not only did he love it but he enjoyed working with members of the community, many of whom developed into business colleagues and close friends. Spending time with his family was important and many of his friends were embraced in this bond. Jim often spent time outdoors; camping, skiing, boating, riding his motorcycle, or just out in his backyard cooking with his family and friends. He liked to travel and took his family on many vacations, including a ski trip to Italy, Caribbean cruises and many trips in their motor home. Most will remember his strong passion for motorcycles. Although he owned many over the years, his favorite was his Harley cruiser. Jim was a spontaneous individual and preferred to venture out with his wife and close friends with no set destination. He said those were the most memorable of times. Jim was predeceased by his sister, Lesa Caccavo Middleton; his maternal grandparents Vito and Lesa Bellephemini; his paternal grandparents, James and Antoinetta Caccavo; and his father-in-law, Robert Peters. Besides his parents, Jim is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Debbie; his only son, Joseph and his fiancee, Brooke Barrows; his daughters, Jacklyn and Cristina; three sisters: Marie Phillips and her husband, Dave, Joanne Ciurzynski and her husband Dave, and Gina Crumley and her husband, Scott; his mother-in-law, Amelia "Jean" Peters; brothers-in-law, Robert Peters Jr., and his wife, Roseanne and Ricky Peters and his wife, Wendy; and sister-in-law, Lisa Tyler and her husband, Paul; along with many nieces and nephews. Friends and family are invited to call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 23, 2008, at the Regan and Denny Funeral Home, 53 Quaker Road, Queensbury. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2008, at the Gateway Pentecostal Church, 97 Hamilton Ave., Corinth, N.Y., conducted by Pastor Wade Petteys. Burial will immediately follow at Southside Cemetery, Gansevoort Road, South Glens Falls. The family invites all friends and family who ride motorcycles to join in a memorial run starting at the funeral service in Corinth immediately following the ceremony, and taking the scenic route through the mountains ending at the Southside Cemetery. Our family would like to give special thanks to our dear friend Wade Petteys who came back into Jim's life not by chance but by God send. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to be made to the Vincenzo M. Caccavo Annual Trade fund, established by Jim. This annual fund was created to inspire and assist a South Glens Falls BOCES student who has successfully completed a trade curriculum and have demonstrated an entrepreneurial spirit in pursuing his/her trade. Please contact Dan VanWie at Glens Falls National Bank for donations.
