DOYLESTOWN, PA - William "Bill" P. Leonard of Doylestown, PA, formerly from Glens Falls, NY and Bethany Beach DE, passed away at home on Nov. 5, 2020 at age of 79, surrounded by his loving family.
Bill was the loving husband of Alison (nee Gilchrist) and caring father to Shawn Helen Nicosia (Raymond) and Cindy Ann Leonard-Rodriguez (Steven). He leaves behind a loving legacy in his seven grandchildren: Shona, Alec, Cameron, Connor, Vincent, Antonio and Milani. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, D. Robert and Miriam Rose, and siblings: Helen, Robert and James. He is survived by sister Miriam, nieces, nephews and countless friends.
Bill was happiest sipping his morning coffee on the deck of the family cabin at Goodnow Flow, NY, golfing with his friends at Cripple Creek, DE, but most of all spending time with family. He had a successful 33-year career at Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC). During his tenure at DEC he earned an honorary MBA from Harvard. He was well respected throughout the company, starting his career as a field service technician and working his way up to Industries Services Manager for North America. Bill won numerous professional awards and was a featured speaker at many conferences. He will be remembered for his quick wit, the way he offered support to all who needed a word of advice, a helping hand, or just an open ear and open heart. Bill was the life of the party, could light up a room with a laugh or a joke, and was affectionately called "The Mayor" by everyone at Cripple Creek. He enjoyed reading historical fiction novels, watching the news to keep up with local and national politics, and going to his local pub for a sandwich and a drink.
Bill served honorably with the United States Navy from 1961-1966. He was in the Office of Naval Intelligence, ultimately stationed in Edzell, Scotland.
