Not only was he an admired & respected teacher, but the Summerson's were also family friends. I always felt that as educators, Keith & my father were kindred spirits, always humorous & inspiring. Rest In Power, sir!!

Keith was my instructor for high school physics (11th grade) and Advanced Science (senior year; organic chemistry and General & Special Relativity). He was an excellent communicator, witty, and made science fun for me. He motivated me more than most of my high school teachers, challenging me to engage the material at a deeper level, to think critically, and to defend my views with evidence and logical argument. (Keith also sponsored the annual Jacob Bronowski Spaghetti Dinner & Film Festival, one of the highlights of my high school career.) Keith was the main reason I went on to major in philosophy at the University of Iowa and took a special interest in philosophy of science and the intersection of science and theology. During college, I visited him and Vicki several times in their home, where I was treated to good food and stimulating conversations about science and religion. I will miss Keith a lot and wish that I had done a better job of keeping up with him in more recent years.
