Benjamin Ramirez Obituary

Benjamin Ramirez May 30, 1930 - Oct. 1, 2013 Resident of Brentwood Benjamin Ramirez passed away peacefully at home Tuesday afternoon. Ben was born in Pittsburg, CA where he resided for 57 years before moving to the Oakley and Brentwood area. He graduated from Pittsburg High in 1948, served in the National Guard and was employed by US Steel for 41 years. Ben enjoyed reading, Big Band music, was an accomplished craftsman and an avid sports fan. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Ben is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Shirley Ramirez (Albright); his five children: Jim Ramirez (Paula), Janet Jones (Danny), Nancy Gee (Marshall), Sam Ramirez (Joanne), Marie Peters (James); nine grandchildren, Casey, Kelly, Timmy, Jessica (Derek), David, Matthew, Michael, Nick, Alex, five great-grand children, Jason, Ivan, Kristina, Elizabeth and Daniel. Ben is also survived by his four brothers, Jess (Dora), Ralph (Gloria), Joe (Sandy) and Nufo Ramirez; and two sisters, Theresa Forige (Lawrence) and Rosie Trantham. Ben is preceded in death by his sister Luz and brother Augie. His generous loving spirit will be missed by all who knew him. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 7th at St Anthony's Church in Oakley at 10:00 am, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00. Committal Services will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery following the Mass and then a Celebration of Life will be held at Lone Tree Golf Course in Antioch.
