Christopher Carlile Obituary

CHRISTOPHER PENNOCK CARLILE JR. On Friday evening October 12, 2012, Christopher Pennock Carlile Jr. was received into the loving arms of the Lord. His passing took place in the Medical Intensive Care Unit of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He had suffered a six month losing battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Chris was born January 14, 1974 in Norristown, PA. He grew up and lived the majority of his life in the East Coventry and Pottstown area. He graduated from Owen J. Roberts High School in 1992 and later attended Delaware County Community College for several years. Chris was married to the love of his life, Laura Lynn Follweiler Carlile, with whom he has two children, Madelynn Rose aged 2 years 10 months and Christopher Pennock III, born January 2012. Chris was employed as a tugboat captain first at McLean Marine Construction in Baltimore MD; then, for the past six years, for Kirby Sea Transportation in the Port of Philadelphia. He had also worked at French Creek State Park for a number of years. It was there that he met his wife Laura. Chris played soccer at OJR and later coached for several years with P.A.L. Soccer in Pottstown. Growing up, he was active in the Chesmont Youth Wrestling Program and attained his black belt in Tae Kwon Do under Master Jim Murray of Pottstown. After his family, Chris' greatest passion was his music, first with several rock bands in this area and then in Baltimore. In recent years he learned to play the bagpipes and was a member of the Hamilton Celtic Pipe Band, where he was proud to wear the ancestral tartan of the Carlile Clan. In addition to his wife and children, Chris leaves behind a large family including his parents, Christopher Pennock and Diane (Marzella) Carlile; a sister, Kimberly Lois Carlile and her fianc, Rick Raffensperger; in-laws, Jay and Linda Follweiler; aunts and uncles, Francis and Maureen Marzella, Michael and Florence Marzella, Dennis and Cheryl Marzella, Douglass and Colleen Marzella, Emily and Enrique Elizondo, Dr.Theodora Carlile-Smith and her husband Jim Smith; a special "Aunt" Beth Myers and special "Cousins" Jenny Marion and Seth Turner; brother and sister-in-law, Sam and Leanne Rose; brother-in-law Jason Follweiler; Laura's uncle and aunt, Rick and Sharon Reigner , and many, many cousins and friends, all of whom he loved. Chris' legacy in this life will always be the love he shared with his family and friends, the profound respect and caring he gave to his fellow human beings and the example of how to live your life, which he set for all of us. Personal tributes to Chris' memory may be made at the web site established to keep his family and friends updated during his illness www.caringbridge.org/visit/christophercarlile Funeral services will be conducted by The Reverend Hentzi Elek at Catagnus Funeral Home, 711 N. My deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Chris Pennock Carlile.I considered myself blessed when Chief Carlile and Diane brought Chris Jr. to my TaeKwon- Do school.Chris was very coachable.His quiet demeanor reflected what a plesant
young man he was.He was a young role model for all the other teenagers that came thru my school.The Art's Tenets are Courtesy,Integrity,perseverance,selfcontrol and indomitable spirit.Chris was paramont with these tenets.His upbringing from his parents made my job easy. He worked very hard at the drills.He was obedient, smart but quiet.Which is a quality in the Art.He will be missed.But isn't wonderful to be remembered in such a way to have contributed so much Love and happiness to this world.In such a short time.My deepest sympathy to all.I am so sorry.
Sincerely;
Jim Murray.
