Frederick Spieth Obituary

Frederick G. Spieth Sr., 86, of Gilbertsville Frederick G. "Fred" Spieth Sr., 86, of Pottstown, wife of Arlene (Rauch) Spieth and the late June (Rapine) Spieth, passed away suddenly on Wednesday at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center. Born in Spring City, and grew up in Pottstown, he was the son of the late Frederick G. and Victoria D. (Sell) Spieth. Fred was a WWII Army veteran who received a Purple Heart and was a member of the VFW. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Pottstown where he was the sextant for over 30 plus years and a lead foreman at Neapco for 47 years. He enjoyed working outside and going to watch the Boyertown Legion Baseball games. Fred also liked to play cards and doing puzzles. He was also a faithful Phillies fan. Surviving with his wife of 16 years is his son, Frederick G. Spieth Jr. of Schwenksville; sister, Grace Rounds of Pottstown; grandchildren, Bryan Spieth of Spring City and Michael Spieth of Pottstown, and 4 great-grandchildren. Along with his first wife and parents, Fred is predeceased by his son, Arthur D. Spieth; sister, Ada Stauffer, and an infant daughter. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 150 N. Hanover St., Pottstown with Rev. Lynette Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Memorial contributions may be made in Fred's name to Emmanuel Lutheran Share of Faith, 150 N.
