GERTRUDE GAUKLER, 90, OF DOUGLASSVILLE Gertrude Gaukler, 90, of Douglassville, formerly of King of Prussia, Frederick, & Limerick, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2016 at Reading Hospital. Born May 24, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Robert Gaukler and Amelia (Eppler) Gaukler- Kamiya. Gertrude was a graduate of the Pottstown High School class of ’44. She also graduated from the Laboratory Institute of Merchandising in New York which prepared her to become a buyer for John Wanamaker in Philadelphia and Woodward & Lothrop in Washington D.C. She was a member of the Christian Women’s club of Pottstown, the Century Club of Pottstown, and New Hanover Evangelical Lutheran Church. Gertrude loved to travel through Europe and Asia, read, do needlework, and volunteer. She volunteered at her church as an Altar Guide, in the Archives Committee, and in the Mission Task Force Committee. She also took pride in volunteering in Action at the Norristown State Hospital as chairman for the Holiday Bazaar and at toggery shops where clothing is donated. She was also an avid Phillies Fan. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial service Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at New Hanover Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2941 Lutheran Rd., Gilbertsville, Pa 19525. Burial will be in New Hanover Lutheran Church Cemetery.
