Dr. Harry L. Heck Jr.

Dr. Harry L. Heck Jr., 55, of Lewes, DE, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 12, 2017, while spending the winter in Florida. He is survived by his assistant/companion of 23 years, Kay Imhof; his mother, Josephine Heck; sister, Wendy Heck; half-sister, Bonnie Crump, four nephews, four nieces and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Harry L. Heck Sr. and his half-brother, Butch Heck, and his beloved chow, Bear. Dr. Heck had a very strong work ethic. As a teenager, in the summer as his family spent time in Angola-by-the-Bay, he worked as a dishwasher at local restaurants in Rehoboth. He became a summer patrolman for the Rehoboth Beach Police Department where he made many friends. After graduating from Boyertown High School he attended Penn State University, State College, PA, where he graduated with a degree in electrical engineering. He moved directly to California where he worked for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. He took part in repairs made at Hoover Dam which he enjoyed immensely. While there his interest grew in Chiropractic. He quit his job and attended Los Angeles College of Chiropractic. After graduation, he moved to Delaware and opened his practice in Georgetown. He was also the owner of Landquest Construction. He was a brilliant man that had many capabilities. Dr. Heck opened his chiropractic office in Georgetown, DE, in June of 1993. In 2001 he suffered a viral infection that attacked his heart, however, he continued to practice until 2009, at which time he was forced to retire due to his health. His passion was for helping others regain, and maintain their health. He was devastated to have to leave his office and the patients he loved. He was past president of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce, past member of the Georgetown Kiwanis Club, past president and member of the Overland Motorcoach Club, member of the Southsiders Streetrod Golf Cart Club, past member of Markson Chiropractic Management, and past invited member of “The Masters” Chiropractic Elite Group. Anyone that ever came in contact with Dr. Heck has a story to tell about him. He loved life and enjoyed people. Kay’s grandchildren were the apple of his eye. He was an avid Penn State/Joe Paterno fan, and enjoyed tailgating with friends at football games in his motorhome. He was also a #1 Donald Trump supporter. He will be missed by everyone, however we have the assurance that he is walking with Jesus. Funeral services will be held in his hometown of Gilbertsville, PA, at Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 1020 E. Phila. Ave, on Friday, January 20, 2017, where friends may call from 9:30 to 11:00, with service beginning at 11:30. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Pottstown, PA, with his father. A memorial fund is being established, per Dr. Heck’s request, to assist people in need of stem cells, of which he was an advocate.
