J. C. Ruht

J.C. Ruht, MD, passed away peacefully at the age of 90 with his family at his bedside, on August 3, 2012.
J.C. was born in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania, on September 27, 1921, to Felix and Anna Rutcofskie. He had a love and gift for music that he enjoyed his entire life.
J.C. was an accomplished violinist, earning his teacher's certificate at the young age of 16. While majoring in pre-med at Penn State University, he had the pleasure of playing in the "Blue Band," as well as the honor of being named Concert Maestro of the university's orchestra. J.C. went on to receive his medical degree from Philadelphia's Thomas Jefferson School of Medicine.
Thomas Jefferson was also where he met the "love of his life" Dionysia Sweeney; they were married in 1947. J.C. proudly served his country as a Captain in the U.S. Army Medical Corps, stationed with the Occupied Forces in Bremerhaven, Germany.
Upon returning to the United States, he devoted several years to the practice of family medicine before completing a Surgical Residency at the VA hospital associated with the University of Pennsylvania. He was Board Certified in General Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. J.C. practiced clinical medicine and surgery for forty years in Phoenixville, PA.
A beloved husband for 57 years, Dionysia preceded him in death in 2004. J.C. and Dynie were the parents of four children: two sons: Dr. Barry and Dr. Kurt and two daughters: Nancy and Barbara. They enjoyed the love of eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He lived his dream and exceeded all of his personal expectations. He left a wonderful legacy for the many that knew and loved him.
Memorial Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 25, 2012, at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 14818 West Deer Valley Dr., Sun City West, AZ. Inurnment will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
