William M. Scheffey

William M. Scheffey, age 89 of White Horse Village, Newtown Square formerly of West Chester and Pottstown passed away January 25, 2022. Born to Richard and Caroline “Lena” (née Appel) Scheffey; predeceased by brother, Richard and sister, Margaret; survived by wife Virginia, with whom he shared 53 years of marriage; sister, Elizabeth and brother, John. Veteran of U.S. Army and U.S. Peace Corp. Taught geography and social studies at six different colleges as far away as Niger Province, Northern Nigeria and 35 years at two secondary schools. An avid collector of books, manuscripts, artifacts, and other curios of historic interest, he distributed his collections to auctions and many historical and genealogical societies, archives, heritage centers, and museums during his retirement.
