Tony and I spent many fun hours together in and outside of Our Lady of Lourdes. We shared some mutual sleepovers at each other's homes. I can say without hesitation he was one of the most genuine people I've ever known. If the class of '67 had an 'icon,' it was Tony. He was everybody's friend and yet never hesitated to speak his mind. God, he looks handsome in a beard! I left the Hudson Valley in 1976 for the West Coast. During a visit though in the '80's, I stopped at Tony's store for a big hello. It was wonderful. His obituary assures me he had a very full life and shared his indomitable spirit with 100's, if not thousands. He was in a sense, the ultimate "homie," but with one special exception, - unlike many of us who wear down the roads looking that special "place," he knew he was in paradise right where he was.

I worked with Tony when he was with the DEC, and occasionally I would stop by his sporting goods store to see how he was doing. He loved the outdoors, and cared greatly about the environment. While with the DEC, on a particularly frustrating day, I remember him making the statement "it seems like all we do here is document the deterioration of the environment."
I never forgot what he said, and I used his quote many times over the years - it made me work harder. Tony was one of the good guys. He made a difference in our world, and he will be missed. My deepest condolences to his family.

January 6, 2011

I spent a lot of time with Tony in the 1970's when we both worked at the DEC in New Paltz. We fished a lot during those years at the Pepacton and Ashokan Resevrvoirs. And I'll always remember his wit and ability to carryon three conversations at once while the proprietor of Sunset.

Sadly I didn't visit Tony much over the years, but there will always be a place in my heart for all the memories I have of the times we spent together.

My condolences and sympathy to Fawn and family, during this sad and difficult time.
