Arthur Jones Obituary

Arthur Stewart Jones

Gallatin, NY - Arthur Stewart Jones., 81, and a longtime resident of Rhinebeck, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at home after his courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Steuben, NY on August 17, 1932 the son of the late Owen and Jane "Owens" Jones.

Mr. Jones was a dairy farmer and a devoted family man. He lived for his family.

He served with the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and a member of American Legion.

On December 21, 1957 he married Norma A. (Meyer) Jones. She survives him at home.

In addition to his loving wife Norma of fifty six years, survivors include two daughters, Lorraine Taylor and her husband Thomas of Rhinebeck, NY; Linda Wesley and her husband Gregg of Pine Plains, NY; six sons, Scott Jones and his wife Brenda of Milan, NY; James Jones and his wife Baerdel of Lawton, OK; David Jones and his wife Ann of Pine Plains, NY; Keith Jones and his wife Gail of Elizaville, NY; Kenneth Jones of Pine Plains, NY; Bruce Jones of Elizaville, NY; four sisters, Edith Sexton, Marilyn Simons, Norma Harter, Ruth Walker, one brother, Marvin Jones all of Holland Patent, NY.

He was also survived by fifteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister, Frances Minnig and three brothers, Milton, Richard and Robert Jones.

There are no calling hours.

Funeral service and burial will be at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of Flowers memorial contributions are requested to Community Hospice of Columbia-Greene, 47 Liberty St. Catskill, NY 12414.
