Barbara Hoeft

Poughkeepsie - Barbara Hoeft, 87, a resident of Poughkeepsie for 56 years, passed away on October 20, 2018.

She was raised in Wauwatosa, WI and while growing up, Barbara especially enjoyed their family's vacation home on Boulder Lake, WI. Barbara attended Principia College and the University of Wisconsin, Madison. She worked for Vassar College for 25 years and retired in 1998 as the administrative assistant to the executive director/president of Vassar's Alumnae/i Association.

Barbara is survived by her three children and their spouses, Paul (Becky) Hoeft of Red Lion, PA; Allan (Bonnie) Hoeft of Poughkeepsie; Susan (Charlie) Youngblood of Armonk, NY; six grandchildren, Anna Hoeft of Philadelphia, PA; Matthew Hoeft of Red Lion, PA, Kyle Hoeft of Saratoga Springs, NY; Morgan Hoeft of Charlotte, NC; Zachary and Luke Youngblood of Armonk, NY; and her sister, Raymir Buer of Ballwin, MO. Raymond Hoeft, Barbara's husband of 55 years, predeceased her on November 21, 2005. Her brother Bertram also predeceased her in 2005.

Barbara was known for her love of being with others, her enthusiasm and energy, and always being active. Whether going for a walk outdoors, enjoying a drive, visiting her children, grandchildren and friends, participating in water aerobics, or engaging in church or community activities, Barbara always brought a sense of joy, love and gratitude to whatever she did. She was an active member of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Poughkeepsie.

A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, October 28. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm with a service at 3:00 pm at William G. Miller & Son Funeral Home, Inc. 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie.
