Beverly Barkman Obituary
Dover Plains - Beverly Ann Barkman, 82, a longtime resident of Dover Plains, NY, passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Sharon Health Care Center in Sharon, CT. Mrs. Barkman was a vocational rehabilitation specialist at Wassaic Developmental Center for 35 years, retiring in 1990.
Born on June 17, 1935 in Malone, NY she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Idella (Palmer) Dunn. On June 25, 1983 in Dover Plains, NY, she married Donald W. Barkman who survives at home.
Mrs. Barkman was a member of the Dover Bowling League and was a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader for Pack 39 in Dover Plains. She was also a member of the J.H. Ketcham Drum and Bugle Corp and the Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Barkman was a member of the Dover Plains United Methodist Church and later the Sharon United Methodist Church.
In addition to her loving husband, Mrs. Barkman is survived by her two daughters, Karen See of Dover Plains, NY and Tammy Mann of Lewisville, TX; a son, Lawrence Harrison of Dover Plains, NY and a sister, Phyllis Weil of Dover Plains, NY. She is also survived by nine grandchildren. Amber Jordan, Kristen, Brittney and Alyssa Pentz, Heather Lamont, Heidi Rogers, Jennifer Mann, Nicole Gregory and Bobby Mann and nine great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, September 8, 2017 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at the funeral home with Pastor Margaret Laemmel officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Dover Plains.
