Carmen Powers Obituary
Wappingers Falls - Carmen L. Powers of Wappingers Falls, passed away on December 3, 2014 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. She was 65. She was born on December 30, 1948 in Salinas, Puerto Rico and grew up there until she moved to Spanish Harlem at age 7. On April 12, 1975 she married Stephen Powers in Poughkeepsie, NY. Carmen worked at Hudson River Psychiatric Center for many years.
She had a love of dancing, music, shopping, watching movies with her family and FaceTiming her grandchildren. She never judged anyone and forgave everyone. She will always be remembered as the life of the party.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 39 years Stephen G. Powers, Loving Children Ruben Ojeda and his wife Merisis, Michael Ojeda, Tashav Powers and her boyfriend Anthony Cocurullo, Stephen A. Powers, Brian Powers, Fallon Peterson and her husband Jonathan, and Matthew Powers. Cherished grandchildren Lily Powers, Mason Powers, Ari Peterson (baby Noah on the way), Ruben Ojeda Jr, Briana Ojeda, and Michael Ojeda Jr,. Her Siblings Sonia Ortiz Villas, Robert Colon and his wife Modi, and Lydia Bonano.
Friends may call on Monday December 8, 2014 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Robert H. Auchmoody Funeral Home 1028 Main St, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday December 9, 2014 at 10am at St. Joachim Church, 51 Leonard Street, Beacon. Cremation will be private.

I will miss you everyday Carmen. I will never forget the first time I met you. We talked like we knew each other for hours,we talked until the sun came up. I wish with all my heart I could have one of those long talks again.I am positive I will think of you everyday, I will pray for you often and I know you will pray for me. I will tell Lily so many good things about you and how you loved me unconditionally, I know i drove you nuts at times but that was us and we loved each other anyway.I want to say thank you.If it were not for you,my beautiful daughter Lily would not be here.Know that you will always live on through your children and grandchildren and the world will be a better place because of that..because of you.You will undoubtedly be missed by all.Until we meet again

Thoughts and prayers are with you all. So many happy memories of time spent with Carmen and her family. We've been out of touch for many years, but not out of mind. Would not have my drivers license if not for Carmen and Steve teaching me to parallel park and allowing me to use their new car to take the drivers test. Melissa and I knew her for a few years at her doctors office. No matter how she was feeling she was always happy. All she and I talked about is how she and I wished that there was a good Spanish restaurant around here. Melissa and I will miss u lady. We love you and you will never be forgotten.
