Lemell Sr.
Poughkeepsie - Charles R. Lemell, Sr, age 73, of Poughkeepsie, died Friday, December 9, 2016 at Mid Hudson Regional Hospital Poughkeepsie, NY. Charles was born May 9, 1943 in Welsh, LA. He is the son of the late Fred and the late Tommie (Pollard) Lemell. He married Sandy L. Higginson on September 23, 1978 in Newark New Jersey.
He served in the United States Air Force for 27 years during the Korean War making the rank of Master Sgt. He was employed by CBS New York as a recording Engineer and also worked at IBM Poughkeepsie as a Electrical Engineer, for Snyder Trucking and Charles also owned his own trucking Company.
Charles was a graduate of DeVry University. He was a local resident for over 32 years previously of Newark NJ. Charles was an avid music enthusiast and videographer. He had a love for cooking and baking from scratch. Boating and riding his motorcycle was also a passion of his. Other interests include playing cards, family gatherings, watching classic westerns, sporting events, traveling and reminiscing about the good old days.
He is survived by his wife: Sandy L. (Higginson) Lemell of Poughkeepsie, his daughter Tazsa Richardson and her husband Jarmar of Poughkeepsie, his son Rashaan Lemell and his wife Melyssa of Jacksonville Florida, his son CJ Lemell of Poughkeepsie, his grandchildren Jamar Jr, Jahlil, Rakim, Donte, Anthony and Alicia and many brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, December 14, 2016 from 4pm to 8pm at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY.
The funeral service will be held during the calling hours at 7:30 pm.
