Rhinebeck - Donald R. Lyons, 91, of Rhinebeck, NY died at the Baptist Home on November 17, 2014. He was a graduate of Highland High School and Poughkeepsie Trade School. Don served as Technician fourth class in the US Army for three years during World War II. He served in the 169th Ordinance Depot Co. in England and France. Don was employed at IBM for 41 years as a quality engineer retiring in 1987. He was a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club and the American Legion. Don was born on June 23, 1923 in Kingston, and grew up in Highland. He was the son of the late Nelson and Estelle Lyons. He was married to Cecelia A. Lyons on July 22, 1950 in the Arlington Reformed Church. She predeceased him on October 4, 2002. Survivors include a son, Richard of Rhinebeck, NY and several cousins. A brother, Richard Lyons died previously. There are no calling hours and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in Rosendale Cemetery.
