You still inspire me to help CAPE to continue it's work in our community. I made a commitment to you years ago and until there is no more crisis, I plan to keep it. You are always missed.

I worked with Elaine for nearly two decades in conjunction with her volunteer charitable endeavors and those related to C.A.P.E. Elaine's brilliance was her ability to take so little and give so much in every aspect of her life. She made a positive difference in the lives of tens of thousands of people, both those close and afar, and neither wanted nor expected any personal gratification in return. Elaine may have come closer to truly embracing the concept that "virtue is its own reward" more than anyone else that I've ever met. This thought eases my pain a bit when--as a cynical friend--I keep suggesting to myself that her lifetime of virtue justified far more years of peace and happiness than she had the opportunity to enjoy. I'm again reminded by Elaine legacy, it's not the time that you have, but what you do with it.

There are not enough words to describe what Elaine's life and friendship has taught me. I will surely miss working with her and our occasional discussions about our lives and jobs among the other problems of world we pondered. Elaine was the living example of service above self as she never allowed her illness to slow her down. Her dedication to C.A.P.E. and it's mission was an inspiration. I will miss you Elaine but I know I will always remember you often and fondly.

I am so deeply saddened by Elaine’s passing. I am beyond thankful that Elaine took a chance on me giving me the opportunity to work as CAPE’s community educator under her direction. She was the best boss and mentor anyone could ever ask for and I will be forever grateful for everything she taught me about grace, resiliency, fairness, and tact. She made me a better person and I will continue to work hard to make her proud. We shared many talks about work, life and family and I will always be grateful for those chats and that she accepted my openess, energy and slight lack of personal boundaries. I will miss her voice, her smile, and her amazing rhetoric! She was one of a kind and I am so blessed to have had her in my life. As sad as I am I can smile a little knowing she is finally by her beloved husband’s side. My heart goes out to Brynna, Jared and all those who loved Elaine. I will miss profoundly her everyday. With Deepest Sympathy, Crissy Groenewegen

Elaine inspired me to get involved with CAPE many years ago, when she gave a lesson to the students in my classroom. She also helped educate me about the crisis we face in our community. I will miss her positivity, her passion and her friendship.
