Flerida "Fefi" Amiama

Plattekil - Flerida "Fefi" Amiama, formerly of Plattekill, New York died peacefully surrounded by family in Chapel Hill, NC on May 23, 2018 at the age of 94.

Fefi was born on March 5, 1924 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic the daughter of Raul and Eloisa Amiama.

She was a gifted seamstress for many years, but most of all filled her life with being a mom, friend and neighbor.

Cherished mother to Alejandro Lugo of New York City; Cindy E Cochie (Calvo) and husband Jim Cochie, Chapel Hill, North Carolina; Michael E Calvo and wife Robin Calvo (Colosimo), Lake Worth, Florida; grandmother to Bryan & Jeremy Cochie, Victoria & Brittany Calvo; and great-grandmother to Abigail, Ethan and Olivia Cochie and; survived by her beloved sister Luz Del Rio of Santo Domingo, DR and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her husband Edward M Calvo of Tampa, Florida and her four brothers Alejandro, Luis, Tulio, and Raul Amiama.

Fefi leaves behind many friends she considered family. She was a kind and generous person who loved to crochet, garden, listen to music and laugh with her friends.

A memorial service will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Plattekill, New York on June 19, 2018 between 6 and 7pm. Family and friends are welcome to attend and celebrate Fefi's life. In lieu of flowers, Fefi would love donations to her favorite charity, St. Jude's Children Research Hospital to cure cancer.
