Frederick S. Scheltmeyer

BOYNTON BEACH, FL. - Frederick Steven Scheltmeyer, 54, of Boynton Beach, FL passed away on July, 15 2013 at Bethesda Hospital. Born on January 20, 1959 in Poughkeepsie, NY he is the son of Fred & Theresa Sutka Scheltmeyer. Frederick was a graduate of Arlington High School. He was known for being very talented working with ceramics along with his mom. Frederick took great pleasure in keeping a nice apartment with lots of plants. He also loved raising animals such as cats and finches. Frederick had a pet cockatiel for many years who sometimes talked. He suffered a grand mall seizure in 1992 and became paralyzed on his right side and had to learn to walk with an ankle weight to maintain his balance. Survivors include his father Fred Scheltmeyer; sister Terri Lynn Scheltmeyer of Wappingers Falls, NY; aunts & uncles: Margaret Stewart of Albany, NY, Mary Whitney of North Carolina, William Sutka of Poughkeepsie, NY, Nancy Hendrix of Pleasant Valley, NY Ron Scheltmeyer of Pleasant Valley, NY, and Mary Ann & Floyd Bolde of Poughkeepsie, NY. We would like to thank Hospice of Florida for caring for him in his final days. Also would like to thank his very dear friends Audrey Walker & Lisa Hazzard for being at his side and Anna Williamson for helping him. He is now at peace and will be with his beloved mother who passed away on December 15, 2012. Cremation took place in Florida. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery. Donations may be made to Dutchess County ASPCA, 636 Violet Ave., Hyde Park, NY 12538. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wm. G. Miller & Son Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603.

I always enjoyed Fred's energy when we worked together. He was expert at steaming off the wallpaper when we were preparing "Denmarc" for opening. I have not seen nor heard from him since those times in the eighties, but remember him well and fondly.
