George R. McGann Jr. passed away on November 26th, 2020 at the age of 84. Born on October 3, 1936, in Marlboro, NY he is the son of the late George Sr. and Eleanor McGann. He has 4 sisters: Eleanor, Ava, Rosemary and Florence.

George was a career Firefighter for the City of Poughkeepsie for over 35 years. The fire department was his second home and family.

He Coached City of Poughkeepsie Little League Baseball and Pop Warner Football for over 25 years. We have yet to find a man that has as many hours on the field as our Dad. He enjoyed coaching/teaching Poughkeepsie's Youth the Fundamentals of sports. He always had time to coach or just have a catch, he never turned anyone away. His famous quote was, "we are all here to play and have fun, there are No Primadonnas Out Here!"

George enjoyed playing Softball where 2nd base was one of his favorite positions. He played Softball well into his retirement years. He also enjoyed playing Golf.
