Gino Iannucci Obituary

Gino Iannucci

MILLBROOK - Gino Vincent Iannucci, a lifelong resident of Millbrook, NY., passed away on January 24th, 2021 peacefully at home after a brief illness. Gino was born on June 20th, 1929 to Joseph and Assunta (Pannozzo) Iannucci in Fondi, Italy. He was lucky enough to return to his birthplace a handful of times with his siblings and on parish trips. Gino graduated from Millbrook High School as a member of the class of 1947 where he racked up many superlatives including Most Respected and Most Likely to Succeed, titles that he certainly lived up to later in life. He served in the United States Army from 1953-1955 as a 1st Lieutenant paratrooper. He received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Bowling Green University in Ohio.

Gino married the love of his life Virginia (Clina) on July 20th, 1957 at St. Joseph's Church in Millbrook, NY. Ginny and Gino were lifelong members of St. Joseph's Parish and very active in the church organizations. He also enjoyed his monthly poker games with his beloved friends, a tradition that lasted for over 50 years.

He worked as a chemist at Texaco Research Laboratory for over 30 years. Upon retirement he began working at Innisfree Gardens and started his own expansive vegetable garden with upwards of 600 tomato plants. Gino stayed active and gardening through the 2020 farmers' market season and maintained his quick wit and talent with numbers.

Gino was a proud and well-respected member of the Millbrook community and was a staple of the Millbrook Farmers' Market for many years. He was well known for his heirloom tomatoes and was often victorious in the tomato taste-testing competitions. He treasured spending time in his garden with his family and Ginny seated nearby to keep him company.

Gino was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Assunta Iannucci, his brothers, Anthony and Joseph Iannucci, and his infant grandson, Vincent Iannucci.

Gino is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Ginny, and his six children: Mary Muroski (Ken), Peter Iannucci (Heather), Ann Marie Sciera (Dave), Thomas Iannucci (Pamela), Theresa Iannucci (Matthew), Paul Iannucci (Jessica) and foster daugher Rebecca Ramos Cummings. He was a proud grandfather to 10 grandchildren: Jessica Santiago, Casey Iannucci, Elisabeth Fleming, Jeffrey Sciera, Leanna Muroski, Kate Sciera, Alyson Chocianowski, Lauren Chocianowski, Olivia Iannucci, and Owen Iannucci. He also enjoyed spending time with his two great-grandchildren, John and Audrey Santiago. Gino was an avid sports fan and loved to attend all of his children's, grandchildren's, and great-grandchildren's events and activities.

Gino is also survived by his younger sister Filomena Turner, who lovingly doted on him and was always willing to cook him his favorite meals. Gino loved his family and friends dearly and leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.

Dear Ginny,

Robert and I are both so sad to hear of Gino's death. You and he were such a crucial part of the Millbrook Farmers' Market experience for us. In the early years of The Art of the Tart our stand was usually in close proximity to your stand and I liked this position very much indeed. At the end of the market, we were happy to exchange our unsold tarts for your unsold veg.

You and Gino together provided such valuable continuity at the market from one year to the next. And that's something to memorialize and to miss.

Best and warmest regards to you and your family.
Kate and Robert.

Dear Iannucci family, Our condolences are with each of you. We were in the presence of Gino and Ginny only a few times, and it was very apparent they were caring and kind people that made our world a much better place. Gino 's sister Fran was married to my brother Bill. Fran has that same caring and kindness and is loved greatly by our family. Our sincere sympathy in your loss, Jerry and Elaine Stillwell
